About the Author

My name is Rachel Corsini and I’m currently a Senior at Columbia College Chicago majoring in Fiction Writing with a concentration in publishing. Whew, that’s a mouthful.

As a freshman I had a collection of short pieces entitled A House on 67th St exhibited at milifest. I’ve also had Market Research on The Rejected Quarterly as well as a complete research project on The Big Ugly Review published in Columbia College Chicago’s publishing lab database. A piece of my fiction, The Good Luck Girl, appeared in The Columbia Chronicle. Last spring I was an intern for Featherproof Books where I learned first hand the publishing industry. I recently finished an internship at Cyber Technology, LLC where I routinely wrote articles focused on insurance and debt managment. I learned how to write from a technical standpoint since my main of objective was to produce articles meant for search engine optimization. At the end of my internship one of my articles was published on debtsolutions.com.

More about me: I’m a native New Yorker, more specifically from Maspeth, Queens who became a commuter into the fast paced world of New York City to attend Professional Performing Arts School at the young age of 14. There I was a dance major and had classes at The Ailey School.

For college I decided to leave The Big Apple and my dance training behind me for a new city and new art form. Chicago has been my home for the past four years. During the summer of 2007 I spent five weeks in Prague and have been bit by the international traveling bug. Since then I’ve been to Shanghai and recently spent a month in Florence. While in Italy I traveled to the Tuscan countryside as well as Rome and Venice. In January I spent twelve days in the vibrant city of New Orleans.

I’m also an Italian American who was brought up in a loving home with attentive parents and a strong family unit. My family is the heart of my everything and they inspire me to continue what I’m doing on a daily basis.
